Library Services

The services listed here are available for all registered patrons of the SJAFB library. The library does not charge fees for these services.

Research assistance

Our virtual reference department is eager to help you with your research.

PC lab

The library and education center maintains a 22-station computer lab with broadband Internet access, Microsoft Office 2007 applications and a laser printer. Also, we have a workstation available for scanning your documents/pictures (the images must be saved to removable media, i.e. Flash drives, CD, or DVD.  In-house technical assistance is available.

Computers are now checked out using your library card number at the workstations.  You no longer need to visit the circulation desk in order to utilize the computer lab.

Inter-library loan (ILL) and document delivery

If the library doesn’t have the information resources you need in house, we can order the materials you need from other libraries and through document delivery services.  Just fill-out the below request form and return it to the library.

Waiting list

The library can place a hold on an item that is checked out to someone else. When an item you have on hold is returned, you will be notified and it will be reserved for you at the circulation desk.

Telephone renewal

Keep items longer by renewing them over the phone during library hours. Renewal is not available for items that are on hold for other patrons, nor for items that have been renewed twice already.

Book Clubs

The Brown Bag Book Club meets every Wednesday @ noon in the library young adult room.  Guides for the books the clubs are reading can be accessed HERE.

Public equipment

The library has available for patron use the following equipment: typewriter, video viewing stations, microfiche reader-printer, fax machine (local, toll-free or DSN faxes only), and a coin-operated photocopier ($0.10 per copy).

Library tours

Trained staff members are available to take groups on orientation tours of the library. Contact the library director to make arrangements.

Book exchange

Donate books and/or take books others have donated on the "no swap, no sweat" book exchange shelves.
